The IASC Boom lost a heart-breaker FC Maritsa in the third-round Local Qualifying match in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Sunday evening.

The visitors from St. Louis registered a 5-4 shootout win after the team played to a 1-1 draw after 120 minutes at East Rochester High School in East Rochester, N.Y.

The Boom equalized in the stoppage time to force extratime. Those two 15-minute period were scoreless and penalty kicks decided the issue.

On the Boom’s fifth attempt, Jake Schindler had his attempt saved.

FC Martisa will advance to the fourth round, which is scheduled to be played Nov. 20-21.

The squad is a team up of the Italian American Sport Club and Roc City Boom, which completes in the UPSL.
