PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The 25th-ranked Hofstra University women moved back into the win column on Thursday evening as the Pride recorded its 10th clean sheet with a 2-0 decision over Drexel University.
Hofstra (13-2-1, 5-1-1) moved back into first place in the Colonial Athletic Association. Drexel dropped to 5-6-3, 1-3-2.
The Pride tallied both goals in the first half, the first 15 minutes into the match when Miri Taylor stormed up the left side and delivered ball to an open Lucy Shepherd who put Drexel goalkeeper Miyuki Schoyen off-balance before finishing to her left side.
The assist was the 28th of Taylor’s career, moving her to first all-time in Hofstra history. She surpassed Sabrina Bryan, who had 27 from 2017-20
On the half hour, sophomore Louise Hayden served a pass into the box that found Georgia Brown before Lucy Porter flicked in a shot to the far right post for a two-goal lead
Hofstra was very strong defensively the rest of the way, limiting the Dragons to a pair of opportunities in the second half. The Pride had several close chances as well.
Junior goalkeeper Skylar Kuzmich recorded six saves to earn her ninth individual clean sheet, tied for the nation’s lead.
Hofstra will play its final regular season road match at Elon University at 2 p.m. Sunday.
