The Long Island Soccer Football League’s Ryder-Vass Under-23 tournament, a staple of summer soccer in the area, will not be held this year.

Like many events that have been canceled or delayed on the island, he COVID-19 pandemic was the reason.

“The first time we would be able to put players on the field for a game is August 17,” LISFL president Terry Uellendahl said. “Therefore, there will be no Under-23 Ryder-Vass tournament this year.”

The LISFL plans to hold the competition next summer.
