Khiry Shelton, who scored deep in stoppage time in New York City FC’s 2-1 loss at the New England Revolution, was named the winner of the FrontRowSoccer.com goal of the week.

He was honored for games ending Sunday, Oct. 15.

Shelton, who came on for Rodney Wallace in the 60th minute, tallied his first goal of the season immediately after Diego Fagundez’s second goal of the match lifted the hosts into a two-goal lead.

Off the ensuing kickoff, midfielder Alex Ring sent a long ball toward the New England penalty area. The ball bounced once, goalkeeper Brad Knighton came out of the net. Shelton ran onto it, heading the ball from eight yards three minutes into added time.

It was Shelton’s first goal of the season.
