ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Lancers 2 qualified for the third qualifying round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Sunday.

The Lancers’ second team overcame Tartan Devils Avalon (Pa.) in penalty kicks, 4-3, after playing to a scoreless draw over 120 minutes at Roberts Wesleyan College.

The third round draw is scheduled for Monday.

The third round is scheduled for the weekend of Nov. 17-18. If necessary, the fourth and fifth rounds are set for March 9-10, 2019 and April 5-6, respectively.

The Open Cup proper is scheduled to begin next spring.

The Lancers 2 were called the Rochester River Dogz, but recent changed their name to the former. The team will be the farm team of the National Premier Soccer League and Major Arena Soccer League 2 sides.
