New York City FC suffered a devastating loss without playing a game Friday.

Forward Héber suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will be sidelined for the rest of the Major League Soccer season, the team announced.

It was more bad news for NYCFC, which already had lost playmaking midfielder Maxi Moralez for about a month due to a knee injury of his own.

Heber, 29, suffered the injury late in the 1-0 home loss to Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena Wednesday night.

NYCFC (5-6-2, 17 points), which is in sixth place and above the playoff line in the Eastern Conference, was blanked for the second consecutive game. City has tallied only 10 goals in 13 games this season.

After scoring 15 goals in 22 appearances last season, Heber had found the net but once in 12 matches this campaign. He also had two assists.

The Brazilian striker is expected to undergo surgery in the near future to repair the tear and begin his recovery process.

“Everyone at the Club wishes Heber all the best throughout his recovery,” NYCFC said in a statement.

NYCFC hosts FC Cincinnati at RBA Saturday at 7 p.m.
