FrontRowSoccer.com editor Michael Lewis has been honored by United Soccer Coaches in its 2020 media contest.

Lewis won the column category for his piece about not being able to cover sports in and visit the North Fork of Long Island during the COVID-19 pandemic. The story was entitled, “Missing the Drive, Players, Coaches, Everything on the North Fork and East End.”

This was Lewis’ 14th award in the contest. He also has been honored for stories about Steve Sampson, Jurgen Klinsmann, Pia Sundhage, Michael Bradley, Derrick Etienne, Sr., Alan Hinton, how the MetroStars/Red Bulls allowed young prospects get away years ago and the MetroStars sale to Red Bull, among other subjects.

For the past 25-plus years, United Soccer Coaches has recognized outstanding works of journalism in the sport by honoring those who cover the games, personalities and stories at all levels of American soccer.

The United Soccer Coaches media contest recognizes writers and reporters with work published in a newspaper (daily or weekly), magazine, website, television broadcast, or blog covering soccer. Freelance writers published in newspapers, magazines or as special features can also submit published articles.

Stories and features published from Dec. 1, 2019 through Nov. 30, 2020 were eligible for the current contest.
