QUEENS, N.Y. – Three members of the St. John’s University men’s team have been named to All-Big East teams, it was announced Wednesday afternoon by the conference office.

The 2019 Big East offensive player of the year Tani Oluwaseyi, was selected to the first team for the second time in as many opportunities. Fellow juniors Brandon Knapp and Einar Lye were named to the third team for the second consecutive season.

Oluwaseyi again was impressive in limited spring action. The Mississauga, Ontario native scored five goals and dished out three assists in nine appearances, including his second career brace against Stony Brook Feb. 23. Four of Oluwaseyi’s five goals were game-winners. At the conclusion of the regular season, Oluwaseyi ranked inside the top five in the conference in points (13- fourth), goals (5- fourth) and shots (26-fifth).

Knapp, who excels at multiple positions on the pitch, never stepped off the field for St. John’s during the spring campaign, playing all 907 minutes. He was one of only two St. John’s players to appear in all 10 contests and the only Johnnie to start all 10. Knapp recorded assist, setting up Oluwaseyi’s game-winner against Saint Joseph’s in the season opener.

Whether in the midfield or on the backline, Knapp played an integral part in a Red Storm defensive unit that recorded four shutouts and a 0.89 goals-against average. As a sophomore captain in 2019, Knapp registeredd four goals and an assist for the 14-win Red Storm.

Lye, who tallied five goals and five assists as a first-year sophomore in 2019, added two goals and two assists this spring. Both of Lye’s goals via penalty kicks, as he beat the goalkeeper against Stony Brook on Feb. 23 and the University of Connecticut (game-winner) March0. He also picked up an assist against UConn March 3 in Queens before registering another against Seton Hall March 17.
